A haven for humans and wildlife in the heart of Frome.
After years of campaigning Broadway Community Gardens has finally been saved for the community.
It is now slowly being transformed into a beautiful, productive and nourishing garden for all of Frome to enjoy (including the birds and the badgers!)
A garden for all.
In February 2023 Frome Town Council secured Broadway Community Gardens for all of Frome to enjoy, with the hope that it will increase our townβs food resilience, ecological diversity, and our communityβs wellbeing and connection to nature too.
The Broadway Community Garden Association is currently managing the garden alongside Cultivating Community CIC. Together we are improving its accessibility, encouraging more people to get involved, and creating a collective community vision to guide the garden in the future.
While a lot has changed in the last year, the magic of this garden and the enthusiasm of those who tend to it hasnβt.
How to find us:
The main entrance to the garden is on Oakfield Road between houses 19 and The Old Nurseries. What Three Words are Bookings.Scarves.Gave. This path is fully accessible for wheelchairs and scooters right into the gardens.
You can also access the gardens via a rougher path from Broadway (just passed number 46) or the back of Lynfield Road.
What can we grow together?
If you are interested in community food growing, wildlife and biodiversity, or simply spending time in nature, then please do get involved. The garden needs as many enthusiastic hands as possible.
GATHER IN THE GARDEN
Every Sunday we gather in Broadway Community Gardens between 10am and 12pm, and everyone (including little people) is welcome to join! We are also there on Wednesdays between 2pm and 4pm.
There are always a few jobs that need doing, from watering and weeding the beds, to tackling the brambles and bindweed. Or you are welcome to just come along for a chat, and to enjoy this magical space.
POP ALONG TO AN EVENT
Alongside our regular Garden Gathers, we, and other organisations, hold events on site.
While the garden is not fully up and running just yet, we hope these events will give an idea of the ways in which the garden could be used in the future, and encourage more people to get involved in this project.
Support Broadway Community Gardens
The site is run entirely by volunteers, and while we are exploring funding options long term, we need a small amount of money now just to keep things running. So if you enjoy the garden and are able to, then please do donate what you can.
Donation by direct bank transfer means we wonβt pay any processing fees and all of your donation can go directly into the gardens:
